The Rise of the Phoenix

A browser-based XR journey through a fantasy world featuring a mythical phoenix.

A browser-based XR journey through a fantasy world featuring a mythical phoenix.

“The Rise of the Phoenix” is a creative WebXR project exploring how immersive storytelling can exist directly inside the browser. The experience places visitors in a floating fantasy environment filled with clouds, light, and symbolic elements, where a mythical phoenix emerges as the central figure. Designed to run entirely on the web, the project allows users to enter the world from a desktop browser or a VR headset without installing additional software.

Using Three.js, WebGL, and GLTF assets, the environment combines atmospheric visual effects with smooth real-time rendering. Volumetric clouds, procedural lighting, and animated elements create a sense of depth and motion while maintaining performance across devices. A key focus of the project was accessibility — demonstrating that immersive XR experiences can run directly in the browser and reach a wide audience without technical barriers.

The phoenix itself represents transformation and renewal, reflecting how digital creativity can turn abstract ideas into interactive experiences. Beyond its artistic concept, the project also functioned as a technical exploration, showing how WebXR APIs can handle rendering, animation timing, and user interaction within a browser-based environment.

A digital dream of rebirth and flight.

Made with:

WebXR, Three.js, WebGL, GLTF assets, Blender, HTML5

Goal:

To experiment with narrative-driven WebXR experiences accessible across devices.

Summary:

“The Rise of the Phoenix” merges visual storytelling with modern web technology. It demonstrates how immersive environments can be delivered directly through the browser while maintaining atmosphere, animation, and interaction. The project became an early step in shaping the creative and technical direction that later evolved into the ExpoXR platform.
