A VR experience bringing the stories of Isny im Allgäu to life through 3D heritage visualization.
CityTale is a virtual exploration of the city of Isny im Allgäu, transforming its streets, landmarks, and historical narratives into an interactive VR environment. The project was developed using Unity, Blender, and XR frameworks to create a digital space where users can experience the cultural identity and architectural character of the city in an immersive way.
Key locations were carefully recreated in 3D using photographic references and historical materials. These reconstructed environments were then placed inside a virtual world where visitors could move freely and discover different parts of the city through spatial storytelling. The experience was designed for Windows and Android platforms, allowing it to be accessed across multiple devices and XR setups.
To enhance realism and atmosphere, the project used PBR materials, dynamic lighting, and interactive scene elements that respond to the user’s movement. These techniques helped create environments that feel alive and engaging while preserving the historical context of each location.

To preserve and share the spirit of a city’s history through immersive digital experiences.
CityTale demonstrates how virtual reality can bring local history into an interactive digital space. By reconstructing the architecture and stories of Isny im Allgäu in VR, the project offers a new way to explore cultural heritage. It shows how immersive environments can connect technology, storytelling, and urban memory — allowing history to be experienced rather than simply observed.
