The Rise of the Phoenix

A browser-based XR journey through a fantasy world featuring a mythical phoenix.

The Rise of the Phoenix represents a creative exploration into real-time storytelling through WebXR. Built entirely for the browser, it allowed users to step into a floating world of clouds, light, and myth — accessible on desktop or VR headset without installation. The experience used Three.js, WebGL, and GLTF assets to create volumetric clouds, procedural lighting, and fluid animations. The core benefit was its accessibility — XR without barriers. It demonstrated how immersive experiences could run smoothly on the web, democratizing virtual worlds for everyone. Thematically, the phoenix symbolized rebirth — reflecting how digital creativity can transform imagination into motion and presence. The project also served as a technical proof of concept, showing how WebXR APIs can handle complex rendering, animation synchronization, and user interactivity directly in a browser environment.

A digital dream of rebirth and flight.

Made with:

WebXR, Three.js, WebGL, GLTF assets, Blender, HTML5

Goal:

To experiment with narrative-driven WebXR experiences accessible across devices.

Summary:

This experience combined poetic narrative with cutting-edge technology. It wasn’t just a fantasy — it was a statement about what’s possible when art and code merge. “The Rise of the Phoenix” blurred the line between myth and digital medium, illustrating how WebXR can deliver visually stunning, emotionally resonant stories that are accessible to all. It was a cornerstone in developing the creative and technical direction later embodied by the ExpoXR platform.
